Everyone knows DJ Lagway is the future for Florida Football, and thus the pursuit for a class of 2025 QB has been a bit quiet.

But the pursuit for a 2026 QB has been extremely active and the Gators appear to be nearing in on a potential heir to thrown Lagway hopes to claim.

Florida Football: If There Is A Will, There Is A Way

Will Griffin is a QB out of Tampa Jesuit listed at 6'3" and 225 pounds. He is a consensus four-star prospect in the class of 2026, with ESPN putting him in the top 100 and everyone still keeping him in the top 150.

We would advocate that on film, Griffin feels like a no brainier to place in the top 100 overall. One thing we tend to see with top tier QBs is that they play on top tier teams. As a result, they often have clean pockets and minimal pressure in their face to make highlight reel throws.

What stands out for Griffin, is that while he plays on one of the better teams in the state of Florida (Jesuit was 10-3 last season), he didn't have all day to pick a target and throw.

In fact often he had pressure in his face, forcing him to either roll out or climb the pocket. He still kept his eyes downfield and kept his cool to deliver strike after strike.

The other component of his game we really like is that he has zero fear when he scrambles and is forced to greet a defender. In the third clip of his 2023 montage, Griffin scrambles out along the goal line, is met by a defender, and Griffin lowers his shoulder like he was Tim Tebow to plow into the end zone while still upright.

It's the type of play that no 7 on 7 camp is going to be able to measure and if he did it in The Swamp, the place would become an insane asylum.

Florida has been poking around at a number of 2026 QBs, but Blake Alderman of Swamp247 logged a crystal ball prediction yesterday that Griffin is going to commit to Florida.

There is still a long way to go in the process, but if Griffin winds up being the one for the class of 2026, he is a good one to have.
