Florida Football fans can attest that verbal commitments are just that, verbal. In this cycle alone the Gators have had players already flip from their Florida commit and have flipped players away from other teams.

As part of their June official visit season, Florida will be hosting a UCF commit they hope to flip to Gainesville.

Florida Football: Piening In The Sky

Caden Piening is a tight end out of Cincinnati, OH. Listed at 6'4" and 230 pounds, Piening is ranked as a lower three-star by 247, On3 and Rivals while ESPN has him unranked.

Based on his film these rankings are fair. Piening does use his size well and does great at catching 50/50 balls in traffic. If he gets the ball in open space, he sometimes looks like a kid player Pop Warner who has to get their birth certificate checked because no one can bring him down and everyone thinks he is too big. His high school tends to line him up out wide rather than along the line of scrimmage, but he isn't afraid of blocking duties when he needs to pancake someone.

His overall burst off the line, along with his route running, is why the three-star rating is fair. He tends to not have a ton of separation unless there is a bust in coverage.

So while Florida is going after a number of tight ends, most notably four-star Andrew Olesh, a guy like Piening can evolve into a useful blocking tight end who can eventually get a consistent three to four catches per game.

Piening committed to UCF back in April. He had an official visit lined up with the Gators before the commitment, and there was some mystery as to whether he would still take the visit. He tweeted out yesterday that he would still plan on taking the visit on June 14.
