DJ Lagway may be the future for Florida Football, but the future doesn't last forever. Last month, the Gators offered class of 2026 QB Noah Grubbs out of Lake Mary.

The Gators have now added a second QB from 2026 to their radar as Ryder Lyons out of California picked up an offer from Billy Napier and crew.

Florida Football: California Love

Listed at 6'3" and 205 pounds, Ryder Lyons is currently an unrated prospect out of Folsom, CA, just outside Sacramento.

With Grubbs, we noted that he didn't face a ton of pressure in his face on film. With Lyons, there is no shortage of clips of him having to make a throw on the run.

As such, Lyons also has a number of designed rollouts, and as is the trend with modern QBs, he has no issue launching the ball 40 yards even when he is on the run. He is also a willing runner to go up field and take on linebackers if needed.

So, in trying to compare Lyons with Grubbs, it comes down to a preference of style. Does one want a pocket passer like Kyle Trask or someone who can move around like Lagway?

Of course, Gator fans might be a little skittish going after a QB from California after the Jaden Rashada saga, but Lyons is starting to pop up on the radars of a number of schools.

FSU, Michigan, Georgia, and Notre Dame have offered Lyons, among others. It will be interesting to see if, given the choice, which QB Florida opts to pursue harder, Lyons or Grubbs. One would assume, given proximity, it would be Grubbs, but in the world of recruiting, it is best to never assume anything, especially for members of the class of 2026.
