Florida Football has had its eyes on a handful of 2026 QBs, but the buzz around getting a 2025 QB has been far less. With DJ Lagway in the mix, it is understandable why the Gators might not push as hard for a top level QB this recruiting cycle.

But the Gators are keeping tabs on a higher ranked prospect from the group and have a visit lined up at the start of April.

Florida Football: Go Long

Ryan Montgomery is a class of 2025 QB listed at 6'3" and 215 pounds. He is a consensus four star prospect, with ESPN grading him as the 116th best prospect nationally while On3 sneaks him in the top 300 at 299th.

247 and Rivals have the Findlay, OH native ranked as the 12th and 13th best QB respectively, and on film this probably feels like the correct rating.

Montgomery operates in a five-wide offense that is frequently sending vertical and wheel routes down the field. His eight minute junior highlight reel showcases a wide range of down the field throws with seemingly little hesitation to let it rip.

He doesn't do it a ton, but he does have some wheel to him and is capable of taking off and running if needed.

His throws could benefit from a bit more zip on them, and because his film has him throwing deep so often, we don't see as many examples of other routes like slants, out routes, digs, etc., though they are on there.

Montgomery made a visit last weekend with Georgia and has a visit lined up on April 6 with Florida. Right now both 247 and On3 have South Carolina the favorite, and Montgomery will visit Columbia on April 20.

A team can never have too much talent, so it would behoove Billy Napier to try and land Montgomery if he can. But with Lagway expected to be the starter for two or more seasons, we wouldn't be shocked if Montgomery opts to look elsewhere when it is all said and done.
