Florida Football Recruiting: Jarquez Carter should see his stock rise
One of the areas Florida football thought it was going to really beef up with its class of 2024 was the defensive line. And while the Gators did secure LJ McCray, multiple other flips soured what had the potential to be an elite group.
But alas the Gators are on the recruiting trail and didn't travel far to offer a class of 2025 defensive lineman that should see his stock rise.
Florida Football: In Their Own Backyard
Jarquez Carter is a class of 2025 defensive lineman out of Newberry High in Gainesville. Listed at 6'3" and 270 pounds, Carter is currently unranked by three of the four services and has a three-star rating with Rivals.
As is the case with most class of 2025 prospects, their rankings will start to fluctuate a ton now that services will be putting their full focus on them. And Carter is a prospect we expect will see his rating go up.
We wouldn't classify his first step as "explosive," but it doesn't seem to matter. He can be lined up at defensive end and he still finds his way around opposing tackles. When lined up inside, Carter frequently barges ahead and always pops out in the backfield ready to make a QB or running back regret putting the pads on.
And the thing we like about Carter is that when he does make a tackle, he doesn't do it gently. He brings guys down with force as if he is trying to make a statement.
Carter has unofficially visited FSU twice, and also just picked up an offer from Southern Cal, so teams across the country are starting to take notice.
With camp season upcoming, there is a chance Carter could see his stock fly up the boards with a solid circuit.
