Florida Football Recruiting: Izayia Williams looks to be the hammer
The recruiting class of 2026 for Florida Football has a solid foundation building. With three players already committed, the Gators are hoping they can gain early momentum and ride the wave to a top five class by this time next year.
One player on their radar just de-committed from Syracuse and is already considered a favorite to land in Gainesville.
Florida Football: Be The Hammer
Izayia Williams is an OLB from Leesburg. Listed at 6'1" and 205 pounds, On3 and ESPN have Williams as a top 50 prospect in the class of 2026. 247 ranks him in the top 150, while Rivals still has Williams as a three-star.
Based on film, the top 50 proclamation feels justified as Williams is a wrecking ball on the field. Williams is simply too fast and too strong for his opponents to be able to effectively gameplan against. Pulling guards can't get to him in time, tackles have no chance when he speed rushes, and good luck to any wide receiver who tries to block him on a screen.
Williams ran 11.05 seconds in the 100-meter dash and threw over 46 feet in the shot put during his sophomore track season. Combined with a long jump that has gone over 21 feet and a high jump that has cleared 6 feet, Williams might be the most all-around athlete in the state of Florida.
Like all linebackers, he'll have to showcase his ability to read the game at a high level in order to continue progressing. However, with as solid of a physical foundation as you will find in the state of Florida, Williams has all the tools one could ask for.
He recently de-committed from Syracuse, and On3 has him as a 99% lean towards becoming a Florida Gator, with multiple predictions logged in Florida's favor.
