Once upon a time, Cormani McClain was a player that Florida Football fans had high on their list of players they hoped would join the Gators. Fast-forward a year and a half, and it seems Gator fans are going to get their wish. Whether or not fans still want McClain is a different story.

Multiple insiders have predicted that McClain will land in Gainesville. Pete Nakos of On3 has reported that it is a done deal that McClain will commit to the Gators after entering the spring transfer portal from Colorado.

The following are the pros and cons of adding McClain to the 2024 Florida roster.

Florida Football: Second Time Is The Charm

Con: McClain was motivated by the wrong goal

It seemed like a lock the McClain was going to be a Gator during the 2023 recruiting cycle. Even leading into his announcement in October of 2022, most fans seemed confident the five-star prospect would land in Gainesville.

That didn't happen has McClain committed to Miami, only to never sign and wind up committing to Colorado.

The concern with McClain is that he is motivated by money rather than being a top level player.

Pro: He's acknowledged his mistakes

When McClain hit the portal, he took to YouTube to explain his decision to leave Colorado. From his comments, he touched on the idea that he had made some mistakes while at Colorado and is willing to put the work in to get better.

"I felt like I just don’t want to play for the clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players."
