Kickers and punters usually don't get as much attention each recruiting cycle for Florida Football compared to quarterbacks and wide receivers. This is probably true for everyone in the country but as Gator fans can attest to, kickers win game.

Or lose them because Chris Couch doesn't know when to send to field goal unit onto the field.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to have quality kickers in the pipeline and over the weekend the Gators extended an offer to one of the best in the country.

Florida Football: Punters Are People Too

Alex Asparuhov is a 6'3" punter out of Fresno, CA. Last season he averaged 43.5 yards per punt and only had one of his 32 punts actually get returned. As a reference point current Gators punter Jeremy Crawshaw averaged 44.1 yards pet punt last season, so Asparuhov could show up on campus right now and not look out of place.

On film, which yes he has a four minute highlight package, he is seen booming multiple punts over 50 yards, with his best going for 69 yards. He repeatedly has a hang time over four seconds and if he does have a touch back its because his gunners couldn't locate the ball.

He was on campus this past weekend and Billy Napier extended him an official offer. Right now it appears to be a three horse race to land Asparuhov with Alabama and Oklahoma also in the mix.

Punter is always one of those positions fans are not too concerned with until their team doesn't actually have one. If Florida can't land Asparuhov, there are bound to be some others out there who could be serviceable.

But if Florida can land the five-star punter, the punter position should be set for the foreseeable future in Gainesville.
