Florida football is going after some of the top players in the country in the 2025 class, and working to set up official visits with the guys on the top of their board.

One of the top players that the Gators are after on the recruiting trail is among the best receivers in '25, and recently put Florida in his top-12.

Caleb Cunningham, a 5-star wideout out of Ackerman, Mississippi, took a trip to The Swamp last weekend, and the Gators made a very strong impression.

Billy Napier and his staff have set Florida up to get an official visit from Caleb, and are now a big factor in his recruitment.

Florida football: No home field advantage

A lot of the time on the recruiting trail, we see the Gators have a sort of "home field advantage" with the players they're after with how many Florida kids they recruit.

When it comes to Cunningham, however, the Gators have an uphill battle. Being from Mississippi, both Mississippi State and Ole Miss got an early jump on him.

The Bulldogs have a big lead for him as of now per On3's RPM with an 87.5% with Ole Miss down in second at 3.8%. Alabama and LSU round out the top four, each with less than a 2% chance.

Caleb's trip to Gainesville last weekend was his second time seeing UF, and his first since October 2022.

While no date for his OV is scheduled, being able to convince Cunningham to come back for one is a big step for Napier. It felt like the Gators were a long shot in Caleb's recruitment but after last weekend it feels like Florida has a real shot.

Landing players like Cunningham will do a lot for Florida in their pursuit of a top five overall class.
