Florida Football legend Tim Tebow gets weird comparison to Bronny James

One is a Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion. The other has a father good at basketball.

Since his time with Florida Football ended, Tim Tebow has always had a spotlight follow him. Whether it was "Tebowmania" or his attempt to become a tight end in the NFL, Tebow has alwaus found his name in the headlines.

But now a well known sports media commentary site has made a weird comparison trying to link the interest that has always followed Tebow with the headlines being generated by a completely different player.

Florida Football: Nepotism Goes A Long Way

If you are not familiar with the site Awful Announcing, they act as an arbiter on sports media. Normally their takes are fine and they do a good job pointing out the inconsistencies at ESPN, FOX, and others.

Yesterday though the site tried to make a comparison which didn't exactly make sense.

The article goes on to compare the coverage Bronny James is currently getting for his efforts in the NBA Summer League to the coverage Tebow got when he attempted to play baseball for the New York Mets.

But the problem with the comparison is that Tebow had actual accomplishments as an athlete and was a self made entity. While with the Gators he won the Heisman and two national titles. While his NFL career wasn't the greatest, he did still win an NFL playoff game as the starting QB.

James on the other hand just happens to be the son of one of the all-time greats in the NBA (note I said one of, not the greatest) and accomplished very little of note during his freshman season with Southern California.

Yes, to Awful Announcing's point, "It was pretty clear that Tebow’s baseball efforts weren’t likely to have a significant on-field impact at the major league level." But part of the allure of Tebow with the Mets was a former Heisman trophy winner was trying to make it in a new sport. It was no different when Michael Jordan tried to make it in baseball or Brock Lesnar tried to make it in the NFL.

Plus in 2018 at the AA level he managed to hit .273 and was promoted to AAA, so it's not like he was a complete charity case.

Unlike Bronny James, who scored four points in his Summer League debut and already has a knee injury.
