When Michael Tarquin opted to leave Florida football and hit the transfer portal following the 2022 season, it was a blow to the offensive line for the Gators. Tarquin started eight games for the Gators in 2022 and would have been a presumed started in 2023.

After a disappointing season with Southern California, Tarquin has hit the transfer portal again And Billy Napier and crew are hoping they can convince him to come back home to Gainesville.

Florida Football: What's old is new

Tarquin went to USC alongside fellow Gator lineman Ethan White. Unfortunately due to injuries, White wound up stepping away from football. Tarquin meanwhile started early in the season, but was eventually rotated out and relegated to backup duty.

With his bonus Covid year still available, Tarquin will be looking to use his 6th and final season of college football with a different program.

The Ocala native entered the transfer portal over the weekend and announced on social media that the Gators had reached and already offered.

Given the struggles of the offensive line, adding a guy like Tarquin back into the mix would be a huge help. While on paper everyone along the offensive line is slated to come back, it is a unit in need of an upgrade for the 2024 season. Presumably, Florida would be looking for someone to challenge Austin Barber and Damieon George at the tackle positions.

As it stands right now, Florida has yet to gain a commitment publicly out of the transfer portal for the 2024 cycle.
