Florida football: Gators set to receive a visit from Colorado QB in transfer portal
By Will Thomas
Florida football has been on a tear in the transfer portal and has several talented players who they are right in the mix for.
One of those guys is a Colorado QB transfer who has been predicted to end up with the Gators and is set to make a trip to Gainesville in the near future.
Kasen Weisman, a freshman originally from Douglasville, Georgia, is very interested in the Gators and may be close to making his decision.
Billy Napier may have identified who he wants to round out Florida's 2024 QB room with.
Florida football: Show me what you can do
Weisman didn't see any game action in his lone season out in Colorado with Shedeur Sanders running the offense all season.
As a recruit in the 2023 class, he was rated as the 1,255th-best player in the country, the 66th-best QB, and the 120th-best player coming out of Georgia per On3's Industry Ranking. He was rated as high as the 27th-best QB in the class by ESPN.
In his senior season with South Paulding, he completed 131/205 passes (63.9%) for 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He was also effective on the ground, running for 242 yards on 5.8 yards per carry for three more scores
Even though Napier will have both Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway in his quarterback room, bringing in another guy to add depth is important.
With Max Brown transferring away, the room is a little thin. While we expect Lagway to see some action in his freshman season, it's possible Napier will want to avoid burning his redshirt if he can, making Wesiman an important guy should Mertz go down with an injury.
With predictions coming in for Kasen to be a Gator, and his visit coming together quickly, Weisman is on commit watch over the next few days.
