Florida football has been very active in the transfer portal as of late, mainly going after targets on the defensive side of the ball.

Now, Billy Napier and the Gators have made contact with a wide receiver in the portal who is looking for a new home after his freshman season.

Bryson Rodgers, who was at Ohio State this season, is in the portal after redshirting his freshman season.

The Gators were one of the teams involved in Rodgers' recruitment down to the wire and could have an advantage this time around as Bryson looks for a second school.

Florida football: Bring him back home

Rodgers is originally from Zephyrhills, Florida, which led to the Gators being so heavily involved in his recruitment out of high school.

As a recruit in the 2023 cycle, Rodgers was rated as the 358th-best player in the country, the 55th-best receiver, and the 67th-best player coming out of Florida.

Aside from the Buckeyes, FSU and Florida were the two teams atop his recruitment followed by Alabama, so we can expect at least one of the Noles or the Tide also to be involved with him in the portal.

Bryson didn't see any action this season, so he still has all of his eligibility.

At 6'2''-185, Rodgers has a combination of speed and size to run past DBs and be a jump ball threat down the field.

Adding him to a young, fast WR room in Gainesville would give Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway plenty of options in the passing game, as well as set up that room for the future.

A visit for Rodgers to come to Gainesville is in the works, and the Gators could be on their way to securing another commitment out of the portal.
