Florida football: Former Gator re-enters transfer portal for the second time

Florida football is about to see a familiar name in the transfer portal, as a player who started his career in Gainesville is back in the portal looking for a third school.

Jesiah Pierre, a member of the 2019 recruiting class from Mount Dora, Florida, committed to the Gators out of high school, but only stayed in The Swamp for one season.

He transferred to Texas Tech, where he played for three seasons and was very productive for the Red Raiders.

Now, he's back in the portal for the second time, and a reunion with the Gators may not be too far fetched.

Florida football: Can't deny the numbers

Jesiah was a three star player in the 2019 class, and was ranked as the 49th-best outside linebacker in that cycle.

In his lone season with the Gators as a true freshman, Pierre saw limited action and only totaled eight tackles.

When he went out west to Lubbock, however, he played up to his full potential and impressed in the Big 12.

Over the past three seasons he has a total of 133 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass deflection.

At 6'2''-240, he's not a guy that many running backs want to see in the gap, and he has the range to be reliable in a shallow zone.

For the Gators, it's probably worth checking in on Jesiah. He was in Gainesville when Dan Mullen was the coach, so he may be open to coming back with a new staff.

100 + career tackles is hard to say no to, especially for a defense that has a lot of holes to fill after a bad second half of the season.

We'll know more in the coming days about Florida's interest in Pierre, but he is definitely a name to keep an eye on in the portal for the Gators.
