Florida Football: Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson is a solid OT who was under the radar
Sticking true to his methodical approach, Billy Napier was able to secure the commitment of offensive tackle Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson on Sunday to help bolster a position of need.
Florida Football: Another Brick In The Wall
Crenshaw-Dickson came into 2023 as a decent lineman for San Diego State, but not one that screamed out Power Five prospect. In 2022, he took the field for 410 passing plays, and while he only gave up two sacks, he also gave up 16 hurries and 19 overall pressures. Pro Football Focus also listed Crenshaw-Dickson as a below-average run blocker.
His run blocking was better in 2023, though not elite, but Florida football went out and got Crenshaw-Dickson because of his improved pass blocking. While he did give up three sacks, his hurries dropped to five, and overall pressures were cut in half to nine.
His best game of the 2023 campaign came against Boise State, when he didn't allow a single pressure.
Last year Florida had two offensive tackles commit from the portal: Damieon George and Kiyaunta Goodwin. While both players came from Power Five programs, neither player had any meaningful game experience. Goodwin wound up leaving Florida due his mother's health complications and needing to be closer to her while George struggled at right tackle throughout the season in 2023.
The arrival of Crenshaw-Dickson should open up some competition at camp and potentially provide the opportunity to move George to guard, his more natural position along the offensive line.
