Portal God Todd continue to be hard at work finding transfer portal candidates for Florida Basketball. With Tyrese Samuel departing, the Gators will need a big forward to replace him.

The Gators have a visit lined up which might just provide the solution to fill that hole.

Florida Basketball: He's On Fire

Amari Williams is a 6'10" forward who has played for the Drexel Dragons for the past four seasons. Originally from Nottingham, England, the 265-pound graduate transfer has one season of eligibility left.

Williams is considered one of the top transfer portal prospects and on film it is easy to see why. Much like the profile we did yesterday for Sam Alexis, Williams lives and breathes around the rim. 69% of his shot attempts in 2023/24 were around the rim.

He does have some blow by potential, but most of his work is with his back to the basket as he inches his way to the rim. He's an adapt offensive rebounder and get plenty of points from putbacks when he is able to establish inside position. The time when he does catch the ball above the free throw line he typical will look to pass to a cutter and he seldom attempts three pointers of his own.

Williams is also rock solid on the defensive side and averaged 1.8 blocks per game. He also cleaned up his fouls in 2023/24, dropping from 2.9 fouls per game last season to 2.4 this season.

According to Joe Tipton of On3, Williams is going to make a visit to Gainesville later this month. Williams also plans on making visits to St. John's, Indiana, and Creighton.

Williams would slot in well to fill the void of Samuel and we shall see in due time if Portal God Todd is able to work his magic.
