With multiple spots to fill on the roster for Florida Basketball, Todd Golden has continued to be vigilant in the transfer portal.

Over the weekend the Gators picked up their third commitment of the 2024 transfer portal cycle with one of the key cogs from the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Florida Basketball: Portal God Todd

Alijah Martin is a 6'2" guard from Florida Atlantic. Originally from Summit, MS, Martin has been a key cog for the Owls the past four seasons and is taking advantage of his bonus Covid year.

Martin was front and center for Florida Atlantic's Final Four run in 2023 and scored 17 points in the Elite Eight against Kansas State. On offense, Martin tends to stay above the arc and is a proficient catch and release shooter. Unlike some other guards we have profiled, Martin only attacks the rim about 35% of the time.

The past three seasons Martin has averaged 13 points each year. But given his catch and release prowess, he isn't much of an assist guy, never averaging more than two assist per game.

But part of the excitement with Martin is his work on the defense side of floor. He is considered a top tier defender and at 185 pounds he isn't afraid to be physical. Martin averaged 1.6 steals per game last season and has 155 steals in 124 career games.

Martin joins Rueben Chinyelu and Sam Alexis as players to commit to Florida out of the transfer portal and with slots still to fill he can expect to not be the last.
