Florida Basketball in pursuit of four-star prospect Jeremiah Johnson
The recruiting cycle for Florida Basketball often looks different than it does for football. Given the nature of the basketball calendar and the fact there are far fewer players involved it's understandable.
After a successful haul in the transfer portal, Todd Golden is hoping to add one more true freshman for the 2024/25 season.
Florida Basketball: JJ
Jeremiah Johnson is a 6'4" point guard out of Phoenix. He originally signed with Oklahoma State, but last month asked to be released from his letter of intent and was granted his release.
Playing in the Overtime Elite league, Johnson is an attack the basket type of point guard. He will spot up as needed and hit from deep, but his specialty appears to be getting a defender off balance and taking it to the rim.
It's a play style that should fit Golden's system well given the number of big men Golden likes to use who can clean up any miss Johnson may have at the rim.
Since being released from his letter of intent, Johnson has taken a visit with Texas A&M and in on campus in Gainesville this week for a visit.
Florida's 2024 recruiting class has just two new freshmen coming to town as of now. Isaiah Brown is a three-star shooting guard out of Orlando while Olivier Rioux is a 7'6" center out of IMG by way of Canada.
Johnson would make a very nice headliner for the class and we shall see if Golden is able to get him to commit to come play for the Gators in 2024.
