The transfer portal for college basketball is moving at a breakneck pace and Florida Basketball has been in contact with a number of players who have entered the portal.

The Gators missed out on Jordan Sears, who we profiled earlier this week, but are in the final five schools for another guard currently in the portal.

Florida Basketball: Coast To Coast

Koren Johnson is a guard for the Washington Huskies. Listed at 6'2" and 175 pounds, Johnson was a four-star prospect out of Seattle in the class of 2022 and averaged 11.1 points per game this season.

Johnson can attack off the dribble but usually already needs a step on his man in order to beat them to the rim. His real strength is in his ability as a spot up three point shooter. Johnson has no problem moving from the top of the arc into the corner and is able to hit from all spots around the arc. He averaged 37% from three point range in 2023/24. Florida as a team was 34% from three this season.

He is can sneak in some assists, with 2.7 per game, but he didn't appear to be the primary ball handler for Washington this season.

According to Joe Tipton of On3, Johnson is down to five schools he is looking at: Florida, Indiana, UCLA, Oregon, or returning to Washington.

Given his home is Seattle, coming to Florida would be a long way from home for Johnson. But in the land of the transfer portal anything is possible.
