Florida basketball: Gators return home to take on 2-9 Grambling
By Will Thomas
Florida basketball is coming home from Charlotte after earning a tough win in double overtime against the Michigan Wolverines.
Now they need to avoid a letdown performance back in Exactech Arena as they get ready to host the struggling Grambling Tigers.
Grambling comes in at 2-9 on the season, while the Gators walk in at 8-3 and an unblemished home record.
When you look at the numbers, it seems like the Gators should be able to take care of business comfortably this afternoon.
Florida basketball: Just do what you do
The Gators have proven over and over that no matter who they play, they're able to dominate the offensive glass and get extra opportunities on offense. They should be able to press that advantage again today.
Florida is averaging 45.5 rebounds per game while Grambling only grabs 29.7 per game. There shouldn't be very much stopping Micah Handlogten and Tyrese Samuel from dominating the boards all night.
This is also a get right game for the Gators on the defensive side of the ball. Michigan put up 101 in 50 minutes earlier in the week, but Grambling's offense isn't quite as efficient.
The Tigers are averaging just 64.3 points per game, and only scored 47 points in their most recent loss.
Kintavious Dozier is Grambling's only scorer who averages double figures with 14.9 points per game so far. If Florida is able to contain Dozier and not let him get hot, they shouldn't have any problem holding Grambling to below 65 points.
In years past this has been the type of game that Florida comes out sluggish in and doesn't look very dominant. Todd Golden needs to make sure he doesn't let his team sleep walk into this one and let Grambling hang around.
We should hear the "We want Klatsky" chants in the second half.
