Florida Baseball: No one throws it like Jac, no one hits it like Jac
The roster for Florida Baseball officially lists 36 players on it for the 2024 campaign. The depth of hitters within that 36 is still a work in progress as the Gators have just two players batting above .300 following its series against Mississippi State.
One of them is Ty Evans, who is putting together a fantastic season in his own right.
But on Sunday it took the herculin efforts of Jac Caglianone to power the Gators to a series victory and keep the Gators undefeated in series play.
Florida Baseball: Jac Has Got Your Back
The midweek woes for the Gators can somewhat be overlooked because they have yet to drop a three game series in 2024. That streak was pushed to its absolute limit this weekend against the Bulldogs as twice the Gators entered the bottom of the 9th behind.
On Friday it was Cade Kurland capping off a three run ninth to allow Florida to walk it off.tw
Saturday was a blowout in favor of the Bulldogs and we are just going to pretend it didn't happen.
Except that 12-2 drubbing gave a backdrop for Sunday's theatrics. Heading into the ninth, Caglianone was on the hook for the loss after going 5.2 innings are surrendering three runs. Luke McNeillie was able to keep the Gators in the game, but the reality of a series loss which required a ninth inning comeback to not be a sweep was about to be very real.
All the negative things we have stored in our head about this squad were about to be poured out.
We weren't going to be able to defend this team any further.
The 2024 Florida Gators are...
Anyway so the Gators won 4-3 on a Caglianone walk off home run to take two out of three from the series to stay put as the sixth ranked team in the country.
At some point the flaws might just catch up to this team. But until then, we are just going to enjoy the ride
