Depending on the team, Florida Baseball was looking to get the sour taste of opening night out of its mouth while Florida Softball was looking to keep the momentum rolling and run rule some more teams.

Mother nature had other ideas and neither team was able to take the field on Saturday as action on the diamond was rained out for both squads.

Rain Rain Go Away

Florida Baseball lost on opening night to St. John's 9-5 and probably could have used a game on Saturday to get right back at it. This is baseball, after all, and one game early in the season is never going to define an entire season.

Florida tried to move the game to 10 AM given rain was always in the forecast, but even that wasn't early enough to beat the rain. It is a fair critique to wonder if a double header on Friday would have been the better choice.

Florida Softball, meanwhile, is hosting the Bubly Invitational, so it didn't really have the option to cram more games into its Friday slate. As it was, the Gators run-ruled Georgia Southern and Loyola on Friday. Like baseball, they tried to move up the Saturday schedule.

Both teams have games scheduled for Sunday, but with rain in the forecast all day the odds of a first pitch happening are not the greatest.
