Five must see games for Florida Football fans prior to kickoff against UCF
It won't be until 7:45 that Florida Football takes the field to take on UCF inside The Swamp. The advantage of the later kick is that Gator fans have a chance to check out the action from around the college football landscape before turning their attention to Gainesville.
It's with that in mind that these are the five games we here at Hail Florida Hail will be keeping an eye on during the day prior to the Gators taking the field.
Missouri at Texas A&M (12 PM - ABC)
The Aggies feel like they are ranked for the sake of being ranked, but this is 100% a "show me" game for both teams.
Texas A&M is trying to showcase whether they are for real, which will, in turn, provide further context on whether Florida's loss to the Aggies was a "quality loss."
Meanwhile, Missouri feels like a paper tiger in the top ten, especially after being taken to double overtime against Vanderbilt.
Navy at Air Force (12 PM - CBS)
How can you not get romantic about the Commander-in-Chief trophy?
Air Force is struggling this year and is sitting at 1-3. Navy meanwhile is at 4-0 and actually has a hint of a passing attack in 2024.
If you are a fan of chaos, root for Navy as the idea of them making the playoffs is still an intact possibility.
Iowa at Ohio State (3:30 - CBS)
Auburn and Georgia will be on at this time too. However, since most fans probably watched Alabama and Georgia the week prior, this serves as a good window to check out Ohio State in 2024.
In case you have not heard, Jeremiah Smith has been a highlight machine for Ohio State. The wide receiver who must have visited Gainesville a dozen times before never flipping already has five touchdowns on the season.
App State at Marshall (3:30 - ESPN+)
Again, if you pick Auburn at Georgia in this time slot, no one will judge you.
But if you want to go the romantic route this week, give a cheer or two to App State. While Ashville, NC has been getting the bulk of the coverage for being the epicenter of Hurricane Helene's flooding, Boone, NC was also hit hard with flooding.
And given that Liberty University tried to accuse App State of chickening out last week even though Boone was literally underwater, this would be a feel-good story if App State can win this one.
Clemson at FSU (7:00 - ESPN)
You should be able to catch the 1st quarter of this one before the Gators kick-off.
Not too long ago, this was the defining matchup in the ACC.
But this week, the primary question is how high Clemson can run up the score against an FSU squad that needs to prove it hasn't given up on the season.
