John Reaves

  • 1969 to 1971
  • 7,549 Passing Yards
  • 53.5% Completion Rate
  • 54 TDs/59 INTs

Another Florida Hall of Fame member on our list, John Reaves is another QB who is tough to evaluate. When he left Florida in 1971 he was the all time leader in passing yards in college history. As it stands today he is 7th on Florida's all time list.

He was 1st Team All SEC in 1969 and was drafted in the 1st round of the NFL Draft in 1972.

But the problem for Reaves is that his completion rate is the 7th worst in program history (among those with 200 attempts), and he is the only Florida QB to have thrown for at least 2,500 yards and have a negative touchdown touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Reaves would eventually wind up coaching alongside Spurrier and was the father in law for Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. Reaves passed away in 2017.
