Defensive End

  • Incumbents - Kelby Collins and Tyreak Sapp
  • Contenders - Justus Boone, LJ McCray

With the departure of Princely Umanmielen, defensive end is another position that is wide open for the taking this spring.

Kelby Collins and Tyreak Sapp are the two seasoned returners for Florida, with both taking just shy of 300 snaps in 2024.

Both played well in spots, but neither played so well that their spot is locked up for 2024. Justus Boone should be coming back to contend for the starting spot many assumed was his for 2023 before he tore his ACL during training camp.

LJ McCray is the top ten overall prospect the Gators were able to secure who also should get immediate chances to showcase his ability.

Joey Slackman should also get immediate playing time along the defensive line, but he tended to play more in the interior during his time at Penn.
