As the transfer portal has settled down for Florida football and its roster appears to be more or less set for 2024, the Gators will be offering 10 new players out of the transfer portal, along with 20 true freshmen as part of the class of 2024.

So while Florida did have a number of departing players, not every starter/projected starter for 2024 is going to be able to rest on their laurels heading into the spring season.

The following are five players that we here at Hail Florida Hail project will have the biggest battles on their hands to secure a starting role in 2024.

Florida Football Spring Battles

Wide Receiver

  • Incumbent - Kahleil Jackson
  • Contenders - Andy Jean, Aiden Mizell, Jerrae Hawkins, Chimere Dike

With Ricky Pearsall graduated and Caleb Douglas gone via the transfer portal, Kahleil Jackson is in theory in line to line up alongside Tre Wilson this season as the two primary wide receivers for Florida.

But we here at Hail Florida Hail are not 100% convinced the job of WR2 is a foregone conclusion heading into 2024.

Chimere Dike was one of Graham Mertz's primary targets when both were at Wisconsin in 2022

Andy Jean flashed his potential a couple of times during 2023, but injuries derailed his season.

Meanwhile Aiden Mizell is ready to break out and showcase his speed, while incoming freshman Jerrae Hawkins might just be the fastest player on the team in 2024.

If Jackson doesn't lock down his spot early, there will be competition gunning for him.
