Defensive report cards for Florida Football four games into the season
The defense for Florida Football was supposed to take a step forward in 2024, and unfortunately that has not been the case. The Gators are 91st in points allowed per game and there are a whole host of stats that point to why that is the case.
Much like we did with the offense, we are going to give our report card grades after four games for the defense. And just like the offense, we are giving out grades to the 16 players who have taken at least 100 snaps, so players like Justus Boone or Desmond Watson were not factored into this list.
Jaden Robinson: B- (108 snaps)
While Florida's defense is a mess as a whole, Florida's linebackers are a strength for this squad. And while he is used in rotation, Jaden Robinson is quietly putting together a solid campaign in 2024.
He has 15 tackles on the season, but just as important, he has yet to have a missed tackle and has yet to give up a reception in coverage.
Cam'Ron Jackson: C- (114 snaps)
The interior of the defensive line has been better than the edge rushers, but they have been far from elite.
Cam'Ron Jackson holds his gaps just well enough, but has yet to offer much else in the way of havoc on the 2024 campaign.
Tyreak Sapp: B (114 snaps)
One of the few bright spots along the edge of Florida's defensive line, Tyreak Sapp leads the Gators with five hurries and two sacks on the season.
He saw an uptick in snaps against Mississippi State and had two missed tackles, so we will see as the season progresses whether he can hold up as a primary member along the line.
