Yesterday, Florida Football got some great news with their class of 2025 when Vernell Brown III announced he would be committing to the Gators. Brown has emerged as a top 50 overall prospect and Florida fans are hoping it will act as a spark for a recruiting class still ranked 15th out of 16 in the SEC.

And just as soon as the Gators were able to play some offense, Billy Napier and crew are having to play some defense with a prospect they were able to flip back in May.

Florida Football: Defense (Clap Clap)

Jeramiah McCloud flipped to the Gators from Mississippi State back in May. The Gadsen County prospect has seen his ranking rise in recent months, and he is considered a composite four-star defensive lineman by 247 Sports.

We noted back in April when it was apparent Florida was close to flipping him that McCloud was a workhorse, and when we reviewed his film we said:

"McCloud checks a ton of boxes we like to see from defensive linemen. His motor is high, and he is not afraid to impose his will once he gets to the ball; even when faced with double teams, he is able to fight through them, and he demonstrates an ability to hold the edge as needed."

But even after making one flip, McCloud indicated to Dawgs247 that his door is still open to make another flip. He told Benjamin Wolk that the Georgia Bulldogs are still a "big factor" in his recruitment. Since his commitment to Florida, McCloud has moved to just north of Albany, GA, and noted that he has had frequent contact with Kirby Smart and crew.

Given that Florida's class of 2025 only has ten players committed, holding on to everyone is crucial for the class. If we had to speculate, McCloud is taking the same approach as many other non-commits have taken and is awaiting to see how the 2024 season plays out before making any final declaration.

And if nothing else, his comments to 247 indicate his status with Florida is far from certain, even with his verbal commitment.
