During his time with Florida Football, Alex Anzalone was a menace in the middle of the field for opposing teams. Though injuries robbed him of his full potential while in Gainesville, Anzalone always played at full throttle and has gone on to a lengthy career in the NFL.

With plenty of narratives swirling as to what will happen with the Gators in 2024, Anzalone hasn't forgotten his roots and has voiced support for Billy Napier and crew heading into a critical year for the team.

Florida Football: Staying Positive

The X account for In All Kinds Of Weather posed a question on the app about two dueling narratives that have taken shape this offseason. IAKOW pointed out that some people seem to think Florida will surprise people this season, while another segment firmly believes 2024 will be the swan song for Napier.

It's a fair observation and we here at Hail Florida Hail have explored reasons why there should be optimism for this season while also pointing out reasons we still have concerns for 2024.

Enter Anzalone, who responded to the question to voice his support for Napier and the Gators as they prepare to embark on a new campaign soon.

"Got to spend some time with Coach Napier and support staff last week & also speak to the team. Whatever “the narrative” is with the fans about this season, I’ll tell you this, coach is doing things the RIGHT way, the winning way, and will have his guys ready this year"

Alex Anzalone

Anzalone would go on to explain in a later comment what specifically he likes about the structure he sees within the Gator organization.

Anzalone's show of support aligns with what many who have sat down with Napier have said: that he conducts business behind the scenes in a manner that Gator Nation can be proud of and not be forced to look the other way (looking at you Auburn). No one has publicly had anything negative to say about Napier the human.

There is also a reality in this business that no matter how genuine of a human you are, wins have to follow at some point or you will be invited to leave. The hope for most Gator fans is that Napier's slow and steady approach to building the roster will pay off with a solid foundation that won't collapse like a house of cards.

But whether it's building the foundation for a home or for a football team, all building projects have deadlines. Billy Napier's deadline to have a finished product is coming up soon.

And Anzalone believes he will meet that deadline.
