After having their first two contests be tight, Florida Softball has been on a roll, winning seven straight games with six of them ending early due to the Gators run ruling their opponent. Florida was all set to keep that train going over the weekend at the Bubly Invitational, but rain washed out Saturday and Sunday.

But as they say when one door closes, another door opens and it has led to a unique opportunity for the Gators to play a top ten opponent at home tonight.

Florida Softball: Top 25 Showdown

While Florida was having its invite rained out, so too was Oklahoma State. They were in Clearwater as part of the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational and had their Sunday slate of games washed away too.

One way or another the Cowgirls are sticking around in Florida, as they have a midweek game lined up with Stetson and then an invitational tournament next weekend at USF.

So the powers that be for both schools got together and were able to put forth a top 25 matchup tonight between the Gators and the Cowgirls.

The two teams last faced off in 2022 at the Women's College World Series, a matchup Oklahoma State. They come to town ranked 6th in the country with a 6-2 record, losing to Georgia and LSU while in Clearwater.

Given Florida's schedule, tonight's contest provides an important test for the Gators. Florida will take on UNF later in the week before hosting the T-Mobile Tournament against a slate of teams that shouldn't provide much stress to Florida.

After that it's off to California for a benchmark tournament that will include a matchup with UCLA.

First pitch tonight is at 6 PM and tickets start at $10.
