Whether it is Florida Baseball or any other team in the country, it takes hidden heroes to step up on the team in order to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Michael Robertson was one of those hidden heroes over the past two seasons with the Gators. But with a crowded outfield expected for 2025, Robertson is off to the transfer portal.

Florida Baseball: I Believe I Can Fly

The stat line for Robertson was decent but nothing elite during his two years of playing time in Gainesville. He missed his freshman year with injury, but eventually worked his way into the lineup and made 104 starts over the past two seasons while appearing in 123 games. He hit .231 in 2023 and managed a .256 average in 2024.

But two iconic moments will forever keep Robertson in Gator lore.

The first came at the College World Series last year against TCU. With Florida clinging to a 3-2 lead with two outs, TCU put a charge into a ball that was destined for at least a double. Robertson chased the ball down for the third out to send Florida to the championship series.

Then this season against Clemson, it was Robertson's walk off two run double that sent the Gators back to the College World Series.

Multiple entities, including Nick de la Torre of On3 and Jacob Rudner of Swamp247 have reported that Robertson has entered the transfer portal.

The reality for Robertson is that securing a stating role for 2025 was going to be difficult. With Ty Evans and Hayden Yost potentially back in the mix, assuming both come back, along with transfers Blake Cyr and Kyle Jones set to arrive in Gainesville, Florida outfield is set to be a difficult group to crack next season.

Robertson will have two years of eligibility yet.
