Following its victory over Georgia, Alabama has to feel like they are a near lock to make the college football playoff. Barring disaster, the Crimson Tide should be 6-0 heading into their matchup against Tennessee and would just need to avoid a second half collapse to make the dance.

Everyone else still has work to do in order to make the field of 12 this December.

As a reminder, the top four seeds will be given to the four highest ranked conference champions. There will be a fifth auto bid handed out to the fifth highest ranked conference champ, while the remaining seven bids will be at large bids.

The following is combination of how we think teams would be ranked today if the committee is forced to chose combined with what we think will play out in the coming weeks.

There are a couple of notable swaps we made to our predictions. The first is putting Clemson in the driver's seat in the ACC. The Tigers were blasted opening week by Georgia, but have since looked like Clemson teams of old. The only ranked opponent left on their schedule is Louisville, so barring disaster the Tigers are favored to go 11-1 and make an apperance in the ACC title game. Miami meanwhile had to survive against Virginia Tech and has been noted have a soft enough schedule they should be able to go 12-0.

Clemson probably beats Miami head to head right now, but in an expanded playoffs we think even 12-1 Miami would force their way in.

The big loser on the weekend is Ole Miss. After losing to Kentucky, the Rebels probably need to go 2-1 during an upcoming stretch against LSU, Oklahoma, and Georgia, while not losing anything else on their schedule to get in.

Boise State keeps making the strongest push to be the fifth auto bid. Even though Liberty is undefeated, we just can't see the committee rewarding them two years in a row given the schedule the Flames play.
