2024 Week 4 College Football Playoff rankings prediction
The contenders and the pretenders of the 2024 season are becoming more and more clear with each passing week. After being left for dead, Michigan vaulted themselves back into the playoff picture while Missouri nearly had their house of cards crumble beneath them.
All the big dogs cruised and while there is a clear Group of Five contender emerging to take the 12th seed.
As a reminder, the top four seeds will go to the four highest ranked conference champs. A fifth conference champ will be guaranteed a slot within the top 12. The remaining seven slots will be given as at large bids.

We will find out more about Georgia and Alabama when they square off this week. Unless it is a 20 point blowout, we wouldn't expect the loser to drop out of the top 12. Tennessee continues to position themselves as a genuine contender and barring an upset against Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, UTEP, or Vanderbilt have probably done enough to plan a playoff berth even if they lose to Georgia and Alabama down the road.
Miami and Utah continue to separate themselves. The only genuine test the Hurricanes have on their schedule is against Louisville. Utah meanwhile got past Oklahoma State and got a boost from Kansas State falling to BYU.
Michigan is back in the top 12 following a win over USC. Missouri is going to continue to be one of the harder teams to rank because of their schedule and having to survive in double OT against Vanderbilt isn't going to help their cause.
Boise State, even with an earlier loss to Oregon, looks positioned to be the top Group of Five team. The AAC had a bad weekend with USF getting blown out by Miami and Memphis falling to Navy.
