Florida once again lost to fall to 1-3 on the season after the Gators fell 26-7 to the Miami Hurricanes.

Afterwards, Billy Napier answered questions in his post-game press conference, and these are his most notable quotes from the press conference.

Opening Statement from Billy Napier

"Obviously, not good enough on offense. We didn't generate enough yards or points. The first half was a trial of errors. Not many plays where we executed well at all. We had mental errors in protection on third down and really struggled to stack any good plays together. Had four three-and-outs and six punts in the first half."

So... what happened to Napier's claim earlier this week when he said Wednesday was such a great day of practice? Why is it year four, and your process-oriented team is still having mental errors?

That's a rhetorical question.

Defense held up

"Look, I think we have a good defensive unit. I think we’ve got good personnel. Our staff does a great job. And we played the early downs. I do think that he did a nice job on third down in particular in the first half. But in general, our defensive staff and players did a great job of executing the plan.”

What has made the start of the season so frustrating is that the defense has played well and has carried over its momentum from the end of last season.

And yet the offense, led by Napier, keeps going backwards.

Why the offense is struggling

"When we watch the tape, it will be a combination of a lot of things. I think every position is contributing to our issues. Obviously, we’ve talked about DJ and what he’s been through this offseason."

Anything but admit that Napier is the problem. He continues to lean on the DJ Lagway storyline, after swearing to everyone that it was no big deal.

Fixing things in the bye week

“We’ve got to generate some points. We have to get more first downs. We’ve got to find some rhythm on offense, bottom line. I think we have a good group in the kicking game and on defense, those guys continue to show up and play. We’re lacking consistency, we’re lacking detail and we’re struggling to stack plays.”

Again, you're the guy who said Spot The Ball. You're the guy who dared anyone to say something negative about Florida prior to the season. You're the guy who has been talking about being detail-oriented all year.

So why is it you are still "lacking detail?"

Again, that's rhetorical.
