The women's basketball squad for the Florida Gators is off to a 3-0 start after dismantling Chicago State 103-35. It was a non-competitive game from tip-off as Florida immediately shot out to a 17-3 and never let off the gas.

And even in their victory, the Gators were able to do something the team had never done in school history.

Florida Basketball: No Points Allowed

Six different Gators were in double digits in scoring with Ra Shaya Kyle and Alexia Gassett both picking up a double-double after both were also in double digits for rebounds.

Leading the scoring for Florida was freshman stud Liv McGill with 21 points. McGill was the 7th highest ranked prospect in the class of 2024 and has now scored 21 points in back-to-back games. She also added eight assists to her night.

But the biggest note of all coming out of this beatdown was the defensive performance from Florida in the first half. The Gators went into the locker room up 49-10 and it was the fewest points Florida has ever allowed in the first half of a game, with the previous record being 12.

It was safe to say that head coach Kelly Rae Finley was pleased with the effort from her squad.

"We played 40 minutes of Gator women's basketball. Any time you come out on your home court, you want to make sure that we play to our standard, and that's what we were able to do tonight.”

Florida will get their first real test on the season on Saturday when they take on the Miami Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are 2-0 on the season and are coming off a 19-12 campaign.
