“That’s absolutely not true.” Those were the four words Lane Kiffin used to describe the reports that Ole Miss gave him an ultimatum on deciding his future with the school. Reports came out earlier this week that they told him he had to pick between staying or leaving “this week.” However, Kiffin squashed those rumors Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show.

“That’s absolutely not true. There’s no ultimatum, there has not been anything like that at all,” said Kiffin regarding the report from Yahoo sports that he needed to give them an answer. He was told before the “Egg Bowl” he needed to decide.

“We’re having a blast, I love it here,” Kiffin said with one of his running backs on the air with him. “It couldn’t be better,” he said. Kiffin told the players to enjoy how their season is going. He described it as the rest of the nation losing, Ole Miss dominating with one of the best seasons they’ve had going into a bye week and then going into the Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

So with the “ultimatum” rumors now squashed, Florida and LSU fans will have to wait some more to find out if Kiffin will select one of those programs as his next destination.

Florida and LSU both have interest in Lane Kiffin

Members of Kiffin’s family have visited both Gainesville and Louisiana, however the reports that Kiffin was in both locations is also false. It was confirmed that a private jet did escort the Kiffin family to both locations, but there are no confirmed reports that he has actually gone on any official visits to either school as of November 18.

As such, the waiting game continues.

Ole Miss has a bye week this week. Florida will play host to Tennessee in The Swamp in a big SEC matchup. Meanwhile LSU will host the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. You can expect all eyes to be on these two contests this weekend and these teams in the weeks to come as the regular season comes to an end and the announcement of head coaches to take over both programs looms.
