If one were to classify Jon Sumrall since his arrival as Florida’s head coach, most would probably use terms like tough, rugged, intense, or fiery. This is, after all, the same Sumrall who went viral and drew the ire of others around the country for his cell phone interaction at SEC Media Days.

But it turns out he also has a softer side, and his wife, Ginny, revealed something this weekend that has the internet buzzing just a bit.

Jon Sumrall loves pedicures

Florida hosted its annual Ladies Clinic this weekend at the Heavener Football Training Center. The event featured Q & A, film review, and on-field instruction from Gator coaches and served to help educate women who may want to learn more about the game.

Ginny Sumrall was interviewed by local news station WCJB 20, and she was asked if there was something about Jon that most people didn’t know. Her answer probably wasn’t what most people would have guessed:

“He loves pedicures. That’s his favorite extra thing to do. Every two weeks during the football season, Jon loves to get a pedicure.”

This, of course, opened the door for rival fans to take jabs, and if Sumrall starts losing, this pedicure comment is going to turn into a meme of its own.  But it also paints a picture of Sumrall that makes sense and aligns with what we have seen from him since he arrived in Gainesville.

Sumrall is intense, and he is fiery, and his interaction at SEC Media Days with the cell phone didn’t surprise anyone. But he, to this point, has also felt in control without having to go over the top or be an outright **** towards players or reporters. Even the cell phone moment was in jest.

It’s all part of a fascinating personality that Sumrall has been able to build since arriving in Gainesville. Others may find this trait about Sumrall odd, but it sure hasn’t impacted his connection with his roster or with recruiting. Sumrall was able to retain essentially everyone he wanted to, and his 2027 recruiting class is just outside the top five.

Plus, Sumrall spends plenty of time in the weight room himself, and he can open a water bottle, so that instantly puts him ahead of Billy Napier.

Above all else, the fact that this comment from Ginny went viral is also a sign that September 5 against FAU can’t get here soon enough.
