Florida has to zero in on a quarterback for the 2027 class soon. By the end of the summer, most of the top names will be off the board and Jon Sumrall has to make sure the Gators get one of them. The name that continues to pop up most often is Wonderful Monds IV.

The four-star from Vero Beach has been trying to keep his cards pretty close to the vest, but the Gators are a school that he's high on and that opinion didn't change when he got a chance to step on campus for a spring visit this week.

Monds' trip to Gainesville was the first of a spring tour that will include Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami and Florida State. He will take the two-plus hour drive from Gainesville to Tallahassee for a visit to the Seminoles over the weekend.

4-star QB target Wonderful Monds IV remains high on Gators

The Gators QB recruiting situation has taken a few twists and turns since Jon Sumrall took over for Billy Napier. Several months ago, it looked like Florida was in a great position to land five-star player Elijah Haven. But when Napier was fired and replaced by Sumrall, that recruitment lost a lot of steam. Even though Haven told 247Sports that his top four were Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and Florida, he added that things were more focused on the first three.

That makes sense because nearly the entire Gators staff changed when Napier was fired and, in quarterback recruiting, the relationships are developed much earlier in the process. Monds, however, seems more open to developing a rapport with this staff and during his time in Gainesville, the athlete met with several coaches on the offensive staff and got to see the quarterbacks at work.

"I pretty much stuck with Tramell [Jones] a lot throughout the day. I also talked to Aaron Philo a lot throughout the day," Monds said to Tyler Harden at 247Sports. "Just being able to watch those guys, see how they're able to get through practice, what they're doing, it was all great."
