Since getting hired as the head coach of the Florida Gators, Jon Sumrall has not been shy about using social media to try to engage fans. Sumrall has had multiple posts of photos from around campus, and his catchphrase of “Good” has been received well by Gator fans.
Sumrall spent his Thursday in the Orlando area and made sure to highlight a visit he made to a notable high school power from the Orlando area.

Why might Sumrall be at Jones on a Thursday?
Well, for starters, they have class of 2027 four-star EDGE Fredrick Ards. 247 Sports lists Ards as the 11th-best overall prospect in the state of Florida. Jones High School as a whole also made it to the 4A state title game in 2025 before falling to American Heritage 33-28.
It is a small part of Sumrall’s offseason approach to be visible to Gator fans as he works claw back the backlash that erupted when he was first announced as the new head coach for Florida. For the most part, he has seemingly nailed the offseason to this point, and even the most skeptical of Florida fans have been impressed with his approach to this point.
Billy Napier had goodwill early on too, so time will tell whether Sumrall can keep up his early momentum. But Sumrall seems to understand the task ahead of him, and we have a feeling his visible visit to Jones won’t be his first around the Sunshine State.
