It's been a good news week for Gator recruiting to coincide with the start of spring practices. The Florida staff has been hot in their pursuit of four-star wide receiver Trenton Yancey and the blue-chip recruit from Duncanville, Texas has responded positively.

Now both sides are ready to take it to the next level. Yancey has the Gators among his top ten schools and will take an official visit to Gainesville in early June.

Florida joins a group that includes Nebraska, Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon, FSU, Kentucky, SMU, Mississippi State and TCU. Yancey's only scheduled official visits are to Florida on June 4 and to Texas on the following weekend.

4-star WR Trenton Yancey stays high on Gators

Yancey recently spoke to Tyler Harden of 247Sports about his interest in the Gators and said that he has a great connection with wide receivers coach Marcus Davis.

"I feel like he's a great coach, he has some history behind him, and he has, I will say, a [reputation] for developing receivers," Yancey said in the interview. "He's ready to get me out for the OV and the spring."

Yancey, who measures in at around 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, seems like a natural fit for the slot, but says he can play on the outside as well. He is also involved with special teams and could have a future as in the return game.

Florida is just beginning to ramp up its recruiting efforts for the 2027 class. Jon Sumrall and staff will have many top targets visiting campus through spring practice and over the summer. Currently, the Gators have commitments from four-star cornerback Amare Nugent and three-star tight end Jackson Ballinger, both making their pledges since Sumrall took over.

The June 4 visit date is shaping up to be a big one for Sumrall. The Gators have 10 targets scheduled, including top in-state prospects, four-star edge rusher Frederick Ards from Orlando and four-star offensive lineman Sean Tatum from Fort Pierce.
