The Florida Gators are continuing to dip into the Georgia Tech market, per ON3’s Pete Nakos. After hiring Offensive Coordinator, Buster Faulkner, Jon Sumrall has been hot on the Georgia Tech market. He has brough in coaches like Trent McKnight (wide receivers coach), J.J. Erdely (assistant quarterback coach), Emil Ekiyor (offensive analyst), Dylan Dockery (assistant halfbacks coach), and Mike Polly (Assistant offensive line coach).

Along with bringing in the wealth of knowledge in a coaching staff, the Gators signed transfer quarterback, Aaron Philo; tight end, Luke Harpring; interior offensive lineman, Harrison Moore; and wide receiver, Bailey Stockton.
Now, Sumrall and Fualkner are targeting Georgia Tech’s Director of Scouting Cody Collins to join the Florida staff.

During his time with the Yellow Jackets, Collins recruited players like Philo, Harpring, Moore, and Stockton. So those are players he helped bring to Georgia Tech and now he rejoins them at the University of Florida, where they will look to continue to build a championship program.
Prior to working as the director of scouting at Georgia Tech, Collins worked in the personnel and recruiting department at the University of Georgia from 2020-2024. He was also a graduate of Georgia.
Collins will work alongside Gators’ General Manager Dave Caldwell who has been assisting Sumrall with the recruiting process thus far. They have worked to retain 40+ players from the 2025 roster, signed 18 of 19 existing commitments, and brought in 30+ transfers. Adding a brain like Collins continues to show Sumrall’s dedication to doing all he can to build a winning program and to bring a National Championship back to the university of Florida.
Florida opens their 2026 slate against the Florida Atlantic Owls, an in-state rivalry. And for Florida fans, they still have nightmares from losing to South Florida in the Swamp last season. It will be up to Sumrall and his staff to get their team ready to go to be sure another in-state loss is not suffered when the Collins, Faulkner, Caldwell, Sumrall-built Gators take the field for the home opener.
