The most prominent subplot for the Florida Gators over the spring was the status of DJ Lagway and his shoulder. Billy Napier announced right before spring camp opened that Lagway wouldn't throw all spring in order to rest his shoulder. Sure enough, at least in public viewing, Lagway didn't throw all spring, and during the spring game, he took the field a couple of times to hand the ball off.
But Napier has claimed that Lagway is going to be good to go once summer OTAs start, and yesterday, on his Instagram page, Lagway posted a video that should help calm any concerns Gator fans may have.
Florida Gators need a healthy DJ Lagway in 2025
It was a brief clip, but Lagway posted to his story a video of himself actually throwing a football with some decent velocity. This follows up on comments his father had made indicating that Lagway was good to go and was starting to throw again.

The status of Lagway's shoulder has been the center of mystery throughout the spring. While he had indicated some shoulder discomfort in the early parts of 2024, at no point after he took over as the starter was his shoulder a topic of discussion until Napier indicated Lagway wouldn't be throwing.
The Lagway camp has been mostly tight-lipped about what the issue is but has maintained all along that the issue was nothing serious that would keep him out once Florida kicks off against Long Island.
Behind Lagway this season are Aidan Warner, Harrison Bailey, Tramell Jones, and Clay Millen. Warner started against Texas last season when Lagway couldn't go due to his hamstring. He also worked with the first team during the spring game. Bailey transferred in from Louisville and is a former top-100 prospect with Tennessee. Jones is a four-star freshman with the Gators this year, and Millen transferred in from Colorado State last season.
