Coming into this weekend, there was minimal reason to believe Florida Baseball was going to be troubled by Harvard. Even though the bats for the Gators had been quiet the past couple of games, the Crimson came to Gainesville 0-6 on the season, having given up at least 11 runs in five of their losses.

The end result in the series opener was a surprise to nobody as Florida eventually got their bats into full throttle for an easy 12-0 run-rule victory.

Florida Baseball: Came Here To Play School

Everyone in Florida's lineup reached base, with six of Florida's starters reaching base at least twice.

It took a little bit for Florida to formally break it wide open, but they were never in danger of falling behind. Colby Shelton got the party started with an RBI single in the 1st and Brody Donay had a double in the 3rd that scored a run.

In the 4th inning, the Gators reminded the Crimson why they aren't the Crimson Tide as Shelton cleared the bases with a double that made it 6-0.

The conga line of Gators continued in the 5th inning and Donay's triple capped off a six run inning that made it 12-0.

Not to be lost in the offensive explosion was the 11-strikeout effort from Liam Peterson. He gave up just four hits and two walks in five innings of work before being lifted for Nico Jannens, who had two scoreless innings himself.

The win moves Florida to 13-2 on the season. Due to potential weather on Sunday, the two teams will play a double header on Saturday. The first game is at 12 PM, and both games will be a seven-inning game.

This is the last non-conference weekend series for the Gators before a massive week next week. Florida will play FSU on Tuesday before taking on Tennessee next weekend to open SEC play.
