Just hours after four-star running back Andrew Beard gave his commitment to Jon Sumrall and the Gators, Florida got more good news for the defensive side of the ball. Four-star cornerback Raheem Floyd told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals Industry that he has narrowed down his recruitment to five schools: Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Florida, making it a five-way battle of the SEC for the big-time CB out of Illinois, with Florida in the hunt.

Though they already have two cornerbacks committed from the 2027 class, they are looking to add more and have themselves in a good spot to potentially land Floyd.

UF cornerbacks coach Brandon Harris has left a lasting impression on the kid from East St. Louis throughout his recruitment.

“He made a great statement with me and my family,” Floyd told Blake Alderman of Gators Online.

The No. 1-ranked CB out of Illinois has played two varsity seasons for East St. Louis (IL), both his sophomore and junior seasons. This past season, he recorded 55 tackles in 11 games played. He had 41 solo and 14 assisted, averaging five tackles per game. He also recorded one interception.

Floyd, 6’0.5”, 160lbs is listed by On3 and Rivals Industry as the No. 182 ranked prospect out of all 2027 recruits, the No. 22 CB, and the No. 11 recruit out of Illinois. But as mentioned, he is the No. 1 CB coming out of Illinois next year. 247Sports also has the junior ranked, listing him as the 247Sports Composite No. 165 recruit, the No. 22 CB, and the No. 9 recruit out of Illinois.

On top of those rankings, it’s no surprise that he is also listed as an ESPN Top-100 recruit, listed at No. 96 overall with a scouting grade of 83. They have him ranked as the No. 11 CB in the class, No. 10 regionally, and No. 6 in his state.

He has 22 offers on the table and it is clear the SEC has become his target.

Floyd has an official visit to Florida scheduled and that will be Harris and Jon Sumrall’s chance to lock down their third CB commit for 2027.
