It was a tough September for Florida football, but October is off to an amazing start for the Gators with a 29-21 win over the Texas Longhorns. The big story of the game was the Florida defense, which harassed Arch Manning into six sacks and two interceptions.

But the Gators offense also showed up in a big way. DJ Lagway threw for nearly 300 yards and Jaden Baugh rushed for over 100. We also finally got a chance to see 5-star freshman Dallas Wilson, and he did not disappoint. Wilson had 111 yards and two touchdown catches in a sparkling debut.

After a record-setting performance in the spring game, Wilson was expected to be the dynamic piece that Florida needed in the passing game. But Wilson was injured in camp and missed the first four games. The Gators could not do much on offense in the first month, and it might be because they were without the talented blue-chip prospect from Tampa.

Wilson's first touchdown catch, a 13-yard strike from Lagway, gave the Gators a 17-7 lead, and it capped off an important drive after Texas had just scored.

The presence of Wilson in the lineup seemed to energize Lagway, who arguably had his best big-game performance in a Gators uniform. He showed poise in the pocket and made some impressive physical throws, like this side-arm throw.

Overall, Florida was just a much more physical ball club, and they showed it against a Texas defense that was ranked in the top five and hadn't given up much all season, including the 14-7 loss to Ohio State in Week 1.

At the end of the day, it was a huge victory for the program and a rare week when fans won't be talking about Billy Napier's job security. There's a long way to go in the season and the Gators will have to win more games to quiet the noise. But today was a heck of a start to October.
