Florida and Ole Miss haven’t been primary rivals, but the Rebels have become ingrained in Gators lore in recent years. The two teams have an all-time series of 13-13-1, and since the year 2000 the two teams are 4-4.
With the two squads set to break the tie this Saturday in The Swamp, let’s take a trip down memory lane of every meeting Florida and Ole Miss have had since 2000.
Florida and Ole Miss history since 2000
2025: Ole Miss wins 34-24
This time last year, the back drop of Florida and Ole Miss was who was going to wind up with Lane Kiffin. In the end, the answer was neither. Florida had a 4th-quarter lead in this game, but were outscored 14-0 in the 4th.
DJ Lagway was 16 of 31 for 218 yards with one TD and one interception. That interception came in the 4th quarter on the Ole Miss 30-yard line with Florida down by three.
2024: Florida wins 24-17
This was the annual rabbit out of a hat game from The Man in the Black Polo. Ole Miss had a clear pathway to the playoffs but imploded in The Swamp. As much as this game added to the early lore of Lagway, in reality, this is the game that made Caleb Banks a 1st round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Banks had 2.5 sacks in this game and even though Jaxson Dart had 323 passing yards, he also had two interceptions.
Florida also stuffed J.J. Pegues twice on fourth and short.
2020: Florida wins 51-35
The opening game of the COVID season, this was also the debut of Kiffin at Ole Miss. Kyle Trask threw for 416 yards with six touchdowns to kickstart Florida’s offense for the 2020 season. Perhaps an early warning sign that Florida’s defense would cost the Gators a national title, Matt Carral threw for 395 yards for Ole Miss.
2015: Florida wins 38-10
For at least one night, Florida fans were dreaming of a national title. The Rebels came to Gainesville ranked No. 3. The end result was Florida’s first win in The Swamp against a top three team since 1999.
This game is always remembered as the Will Grier game, as Florida shot out to a 25-0 halftime lead. What’s somewhat forgotten from this game is that Grier was fighting off flu like symptoms.
We’ll just ignore what happened to Grier after this game.
2008: Ole Miss wins 31-30
The game synonymous with Tim Tebow's “The Promise” speech, Florida was actually quite unlucky to lose this game in the first place. The Gators had 24 first downs to the 10 that the Rebels had. Florida outgained Ole Miss 443 yards to 325.
The problem is that Florida had three fumbles in this game, allowing Ole Miss to come back from a 17-7 deficit.
In the end, 2008 turned out alright.
2007: Florida wins 30-24
Florida went up 27-9 in the third quarter and looked like they had a clear pathway to the finish line, but the Rebels managed back-to-back touchdowns that included a 77-yard touchdown that made things far closer than the Gators would have liked.
Tebow finished with 261 passing yards and 166 rushing yards. His 27 rushing attempts tied his career-high. The only other time he rushed 27 times was in 2009 against Arkansas.
2003: Ole Miss wins 20-17
If you want proof of the up-and-down nature of the Ron Zook era, the Gators would go on after this loss to win five straight, including wins over LSU and Georgia. And the frustration is that Florida held Eli Manning and his offense to just 20 points.
But three interceptions from Chris Leak helped Ole Miss score the game-winning TD with 1:10 left.
2002: Ole Miss wins 17-14
Florida had a 14-2 halftime lead and essentially shut down Manning in this game, holding him to just 154 yards passing.
But Rex Grossman threw four interceptions in this game, including a pick-six, that doomed Florida’s chances of winning.
