Jac Caglianone has played in three AAA games with the Omaha Storm Chasers since his call-up earlier this week, and he is continuing right where he left off in Double-A. In three AAA games, Caglianone has himself a three-game hit streak.
Thursday’s hit was a loud one in the form of a 410-foot solo home run in the top of the sixth that tied the game 3-3 in the 6th. In a 3-0 count, third base coach David Noworyta gave Caglianone the green light, and Caglianone took advantage. Dak Hudson left the pitch over the middle of the plate for him, and he drove it a mile.
Caglianone is hitting .308 with a .846 OPS so far with the Storm Chasers and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Jac Caglianone has his First AAA Home Run and a Three-Game AAA Hit Streak
In his first game on Tuesday, he was 1-4; yesterday he claimed two hits, going 2-5. All three of those hits between Tuesday and Wednesday were singles. On Thursday he was 1-4, with the loud game momentum-shifting home run in the sixth.
Caglianone’s home run was 113.6 mph off the bat and got out of the ballpark in just 2.5 seconds. That was his second hit ball that was hit over 110 mph on Thursday.
The Salt Lake City Bees went on to defeat the Storm Chasers 9-5, their third straight loss in a row to the Angels’ AAA affiliate.
The two clubs continue their six-game series on Friday at 7:35 pm CDT in Salt Lake. Caglianone will look to stay hot, get a hit, and take his hit-streak to four.
All eyes are now on Caglianone as many don’t think it’ll be long before he gets that final call-up if he continues to swing the bat the way he has in his first three Triple-A bouts. Kansas City has lost six of their last ten games and could be looking for a fresh bat to contribute to their lineup before much longer.
For now, Caglianone will continue to develop and get reps at Triple-A, putting on a show for the Storm Chasers’ fans.
