Former Gator Jac Caglianone begins to heat back up at the plate for the Royals

Caglianone had a rough May, but June has been a turn-around month for the 23-year old outfielder from Florida.

After hitting just .222 in May, former Gator star Jac Caglianone has started to absolutely heat up for the Kansas City Royals in June. Over the course of the month he has hit .379/.468/.742, with a big OPS of 1.210. He has hit three doubles, and knocked seven home runs this month. He has 16 RBIs, 17 runs scored, and two stolen bases. This comes after hitting just four doubles, three home runs, and driving in seven RBIs and seven runs scored in May.

Over the last seven games he has a .310 average with four home runs, including two on Sunday. Over the course of the last 15 games he’s batting .382 with six home runs, and 13 RBIs in 15 games.

As mentioned, on Sunday, Caglianone was 2-for-3 with two home runs, driving in three RBIs and three runs scored. His first home run went 444 feet with an exit velocity of over 108 mph.

His second was creamed 426 feet. This comes after hitting home runs on Friday and Saturday as well, giving the 23-year old four home runs in three games, including seven RBIs this weekend as well. He has at least one or more hit in seven of his last 10 games as he begins to return to the fashion everyone knows he’s capable of at the plate.  He’s showing his power and ability to make an impact at the plate.

Over the full course of the season Caglianone is now batting a total .275/.349/.480, with a .829 OPS. He has 12 doubles, one triple, and 12 home runs, with 27 RBIs, three stolen bases, and 35 runs scored.

Caglianone is currently on a one-year, $784k contract. Still in his pre-arbitration years, he is under club control through 2031, but could be on track to earn “super two” and be eligible for salary arbitration early. With Caglianone returning to his old ways and displaying his raw power again, if he continues this trend he could see a long-term contract extension come his way soon.

What's interesting with Caglianoe is that he is part of what is brewing to be a very special class of 2024 draft. Within just the top ten, Travis Bazzana, Chase Burns, Nick Kurtz, JJ Wetherholt, and Konnor Griffin were fellow draft picks. Notably missing from this list is former Georgia 1B Charlie Condon, who does have a .910 OPS in AAA Albuquerque, but also has 70 strikeouts against just 64 total hits.
