Florida alum Christian Scott was back on the mound on Wednesday during the first official day of spring for New York Mets pitchers and catchers down in Port St. Lucie.
Scott, just 20 days after being recalled from the Syracuse Mets to New York, sprained his right UCL, which led to him eventually needing Tommy John Surgery, forcing him to be placed on the extended 60-day injured list and missing the entirety of the 2025 season.
Prior to being placed on the injured list, Scott threw nine games for Triple-A Syracuse followed by nine games in the big leagues.Â
Former Gator Christian Scott works his way back with the Mets
With Triple-A Syracuse in 2024. He was 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA in 2024. Over the course of 42 1/3 innings he gave up just 13 earned runs on 29 hits and 12 walks. Scott struck out 55 and had an impressive 0.97. Those numbers earned him a call-up to the big leagues.
With the big league club he was 0-3 with a 4.56 ERA over the course of 47 1/3 innings. He gave up 24 earned runs on 45 hits and 12 walks. Scott struck out 39 and a WHIP 1.20 before then suffering the UCL and finding himself on the big league roster.
Scott was activated off the injured list in November. Prior to arriving for spring training he trained at Cressey Sports Performance with guys like former Met Max Scherzer.
With the UCL continuing to heal and Scott feeling good, on the first day of Mets pitchers and catchers spring camp in Port St. Lucie, Scott was impressive on the mound showing the UCL is a thing of the past and he’s ready to move forward.

The ball was jumping out of the hard-throwing righty’s hand. His velocity looked good, his ability to hit location looked good too. Though he walked Mark Vientos during live batting practice, he did gets swings and misses throughout his session and even got Vientos to chase one low.

As long as Scott isn’t faced with any setbacks this spring and the UCL keeps trending in the positive direction, it is likely that the Coconut Creek native will find himself back in the big leagues helping the Mets chase a World Series title in 2026.
