Former Florida Football kicker Eddy Pineiro is now the NFL's all time leader
During his time with Florida Football, Eddy Pineiro was a big-legged kicker who almost never missed. In 2016, he was 21 of 25 on field goal attempts before making 17 of 18 attempts during his 2017 campaign.
He is still the most accurate kicker in Gator's history among kickers with at least 35 attempts.
His NFL journey didn't start out as the smoothest, but he has been on a tear since 2022 and after two misses from Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker on Sunday, Pineiro is now considered the most accurate kicker in NFL history.
Florida Football: Eddy, Eddy, Eddy
Pineiro was undrafted in 2018 and eventually emerged with the Chicago Bears in 2019. His initial campaign could have been better, going 23 of 28. A groin injury knocked him out of the 2020 season, and he eventually showed up with the New York Jets to close out the 2021 season.
Since 2022, Pineiro has settled in with the Carolina Panthers, and while the team is awful, Pineiro is one of the lone bright spots on the squad.
Pineiro made the game-winning kick in overtime last week against the New York Giants to move his career average to 89.38%, going 101 for 113 in his NFL career.
Over the weekend, Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker missed two kicks to drop his career average to 89.34%.
The end result is that Eddy Pineiro is now considered the most accurate kicker in NFL history.
It should be noted in this golden age of kickers, seven of the eight most accurate kickers are currently active, so Pineiro will need to continue making kicks if he wants to stay on top going forward.
